Takashi Murakami × Absolut Art
Limited-Edition Print for the Kitchen
Takashi Murakami has partnered with Absolut Art in creating a limited-edition print—the second of three exclusive collaborations—to benefit the Kitchen, New York, on the occasion of the nonprofit space’s fiftieth anniversary. All proceeds will go toward a planned renovation, ensuring that it will remain a platform for artistic experimentation in its historic and beloved building. The signed print, Thank You for the Wonderful Destiny (2020), features Murakami’s signature smiling flowers and will be available exclusively through Absolut Art starting July 15. In conjunction with the exhibition Hiroshige’s 100 Famous Views of Edo (feat. Takashi Murakami) at the Brooklyn Museum, Murakami and curator Joan Cummins will discuss the artist’s new series of fantastical paintings that respond to Utagawa Hiroshige’s 100 Famous Views of Edo (1856–58), now on view at the museum for the first time in twenty-four years. Cummins and Murakami will also reflect on Hiroshige’s contributions to global art history and his role as a witness to and chronicler of environmental and social change.
