Gagosian and Diana Widmaier-Picasso are presenting a small exhibition to celebrate the publication of Picasso and Maya: Father and Daughter. This comprehensive reference publication explores the figure of Maya Ruiz-Picasso, Pablo Picasso’s beloved eldest daughter, throughout Picasso’s work and chronicles the loving relationship between the artist and his daughter. On view will be a painting by Picasso, photographs of work by Picasso taken by Roe Ethridge, and a selection of the original archival materials featured in the book.

Join Gagosian for a conversation with curators Annie Cohen-Solal and Vérane Tasseau on the occasion of their exhibition, A Foreigner Called Picasso, on view through February 10, 2024, at Gagosian, New York. The talk will be moderated by lawyer and lecturer Silvia Beltrametti, and the participants will discuss Cohen-Solal’s investigation of Picasso’s status as a permanent foreigner in France. The curators will also share stories behind the creation of the exhibition, which reimagines Cohen-Solal’s award-winning book, Un étranger nommé Picasso, and was first presented in a different iteration at the Palais de la Porte Dorée–Musée national de l’histoire de l’immigration in association with the Musée Picasso, Paris, in 2021–22. After the talk, Cohen-Solal will sign copies of her book, which will be available for purchase.

Simon Hantaï: Azzurro

Sofia Coppola: Archive
MACK recently published Sofia Coppola: Archive 1999–2023, the first publication to chronicle Coppola’s entire body of work in cinema. Comprised of the filmmaker’s personal photographs, developmental materials, drafted and annotated scripts, collages, and unseen behind-the-scenes photography from all of her films, the monograph offers readers an intimate look into the process behind these films.
