Join Anna Weyant and her brother, actor Austin Weyant, for a conversation and screening on the occasion of Anna Weyant Selects, a film program curated by the artist as part of an ongoing series copresented by Gagosian and Metrograph. The pair will introduce the selected films—Lost in Translation (2003), Gone Girl (2014), and Parasite (2019)—which explore power dynamics, complexities, and deceptions in relationships and wider society, as well as discuss the impact film has had on their respective practices. After the talk, Lost in Translation, directed by Sofia Coppola, will be screened.

Anna Weyant has curated a selection of three films as part of an ongoing series copresented by Gagosian and Metrograph. Weyant comments, “The experience of watching each of these films is markedly different with respect to their individual style, storytelling, aesthetic, and dialogue. When I consider what it is about these stories that resonates with me, I am repeatedly drawn to their through lines of the power dynamics, complexities, and deceptions in relationships (and society); the uneasiness that comes from not fully knowing one’s surroundings (or the company one keeps); and our inherent desires for connection in an increasingly isolating world.”

Damien Hirst takes over the entire estate at Château La Coste, filling its 500 acres and five exhibition pavilions, designed by world-renowned architects such as Oscar Niemeyer, Renzo Piano, and Richard Rogers, with sculptures and paintings from some of his most iconic series. The presentation also features work that has never been exhibited before, including The Empress Paintings, Cosmos Paintings, and sculptures from his Meteorites and Satellites series. A selection of outdoor sculptures are sited across the estate, including at Frank Gehry’s Music Pavilion and the Tadao Ando Art Centre, in addition to artwork inside the pavilions.

Join Gagosian for a special screening of van G (2023), a film made collaboratively by Albert Oehlen and director Oliver Hirschbiegel, in conjunction with the artist’s exhibition of new paintings at Gagosian, Grosvenor Hill, London. A romance, the film depicts the relationship between Vincent van Gogh (played by Ben Becker) and his models, whom he struggled to recruit and pay. Van G additionally provides insight into the artist’s techniques, clearing up some common misunderstandings about them. The screening will be followed by a question-and-answer session with Oehlen. The event is free to attend.

Join Sarah Sze and fellow artist Lorna Simpson in a conversation moderated by Thelma Golden, director of the Studio Museum in Harlem, New York, on the occasion of the exhibition Making Their Mark, on view at the Shah Garg Foundation through March 23, 2024. Both artists are included in the exhibition, which showcases the work of more than seventy women artists from the last eight decades, bringing into vibrant relief their intergenerational relationships, formal and material breakthroughs, and historical impact as they aim to rechart art history through their singular, iconic practices.

Specially conceived for the reimagined spaces of the gallery at 10 Corso Como, Happy Birthday Louise Parker brings together a selection of iconic photographs from the past fifteen years by Roe Ethridge, including previously unreleased works. Curated by Alessandro Rabottini, the exhibition draws its title from the alluring presence of Louise Parker, a model with whom Ethridge collaborated on several fashion editorials starting in 2010. Over the years, the two became friends and Ethridge had the opportunity to portray Parker both inside and outside the framework of the fashion industry.

This online benefit auction, hosted by Sotheby’s for the Iovine and Young Center for High School Education, features eleven donated works by contemporary artists including Jennifer Guidi and Ed Ruscha. The Iovine and Young Center is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District, and all proceeds from the sale will directly support its educational programming and contribute to the advancement of its impactful initiatives.

The animatronic work of art was recently acquired by the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra and is on view at the museum through April 28, 2024.

John Currin will be a guest lecturer at the Los Angeles Times Media Center, as part of the ArtCenter College of Design Graduate Art MFA Spring 2024 Lecture Series. Artist Logan Criley will introduce Currin, who will discuss Memorial, his 2021 exhibition at Gagosian, New York, as well as his practice in general. The talk will be followed by a question-and-answer session with the artist. The event is free and open to the public.

Giuseppe Penone’s sculpture La logica del vegetale – Metamorfosi (Vegetal Logic – Metamorphosis) (2024) is installed in an ancient desert canyon in the Arabian Peninsula as part of Desert X AlUla 2024. The 17-meter-tall (almost 56-foot-tall) cast bronze chestnut tree lies on its side with gnarled roots exposed, surrounded by pieces of fossilized trees, revealing the interdependence between sculpture and nature across geological time. This is the third edition of Desert X AlUla, a collaboration between Desert X and the Royal Commission for AlUla established to advance new cultural dialogue through art. Curated by Maya El Khalil and Marcello Dantas, the selection of works explores the theme “In the Presence of Absence” and asks the question “What cannot be seen?”

Join Gagosian for a series of film screenings inside Douglas Gordon’s exhibition All I need is a little bit of everything at the gallery’s Grosvenor Hill location. The show centrally features Pretty much every film and video work from about 1992 until now... (1999–), an ever-growing installation displayed on more than a hundred screens, ranging from traditional TVs to iPads, that brings together nearly all of the artist’s video work from the past three decades. The four films selected for screening have been employed as raw materials in some of Gordon’s most important works and figure prominently in the encyclopedic installation.

For over two years, Wenders traced Anselm Kiefer’s path from his native Germany to his former studio complex in southern France—now part of his foundation, Eschaton—weaving together pivotal moments in the artist’s life and decades-long career. This unique cinematic experience dives deep into Kiefer’s practice and reveals his inspiration and creative process, exploring his fascination with myth and history.

As part of the Gallery Met Banners project, the Metropolitan Opera has commissioned Anna Weyant to create a painting to celebrate the staging of Giuseppe Verdi’s Italian opera La Forza del Destino. The work will be reproduced in the form of a sixty-foot banner installed on the façade of Lincoln Center in New York during the production. Weyant’s painting, which shares the same name as the opera, portrays Leonora, the tortured principal character, with closed eyes, bright red lips, and a single visible pearl earring. The words “Forza” and “Destino” are rendered in a vintage font with a scarlet hue and bloody “dripping” effect, evoking posters for classic Italian-made horror movies of the 1950s and ’60s.

Join Gagosian for a conversation between Bennett Miller and Michael Govan, CEO and Wallis Annenberg Director of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, inside the artist’s exhibition at Gagosian, Beverly Hills, featuring new AI-generated prints. The pair will explore the connections between the emergence of artificial intelligence and the history of the photographic image, as well as discuss the inspiration and process behind the prints on view and their dialogue with the contemporary landscape. Created with a DALL•E image generator, these melancholic images pose questions around the contingent and enigmatic nature of perception.

Sitting Pretty and Sing It Like You Mean It (both 2016) by Derrick Adams are on view on the High Line’s Moynihan Connector Billboard at its location on Dyer Avenue between 30th and 31st Streets in New York. The double-sided billboard features Adams’s two commanding depictions of Black people, whose warm self-assurance is broadcast to the park visitors and passersby below. The figures on each side are set against the Technicolor backdrop of a television test card, suggesting the partial reset of conventions within popular culture that took place as Black culture gained greater representation in the latter part of the twentieth century. A public park built on a once-abandoned elevated rail line in Manhattan, the High Line is also a nonprofit organization that works with communities and reimagines public spaces to create connected, healthy neighborhoods and cities.

Join Gagosian for a conversation with curators Annie Cohen-Solal and Vérane Tasseau on the occasion of their exhibition, A Foreigner Called Picasso, on view through February 10, 2024, at Gagosian, New York. The talk will be moderated by lawyer and lecturer Silvia Beltrametti, and the participants will discuss Cohen-Solal’s investigation of Picasso’s status as a permanent foreigner in France. The curators will also share stories behind the creation of the exhibition, which reimagines Cohen-Solal’s award-winning book, Un étranger nommé Picasso, and was first presented in a different iteration at the Palais de la Porte Dorée–Musée national de l’histoire de l’immigration in association with the Musée Picasso, Paris, in 2021–22. After the talk, Cohen-Solal will sign copies of her book, which will be available for purchase.

Dominated by the color green, Weatherford’s paintings make visual reference to arboreal and aquatic environments, as well as outer space. The pair will discuss the inspiration and process behind these works, which are imbued with spatial illusion and a spirit of existential inquiry. Following the talk, the Gagosian Shop at 976 Madison Avenue will host a reception where Weatherford will sign copies of her new book, The Flaying of Marsyas, which documents her 2022 exhibition of the same title at Museo di Palazzo Grimani, Venice. Published by Gagosian, the book will be available for purchase at the event.

The Open World, the third edition of the Thailand Biennale, features a new immersive, site-specific installation by Sarah Sze titled Pictures at an Exhibition, alongside work by more than sixty international and local artists. Curated by Angkrit Ajchariyasophon and Manuporn Luengaram, with artistic directors Rirkrit Tiravanija and Gridthiya Gaweewong, the exhibition is installed across key venues in the northernmost part of the country, Chiang Rai, including art galleries, exhibition halls, museums, temples, and historic sites. The selected works address topical issues such as history, cultural diversity, nature, and ecology.
