This online benefit auction for Printed Matter features over sixty donated artworks—some of which were created especially for the fundraiser—by contemporary artists, including Richard Artschwager, Piero Golia, Adam McEwen, Richard Prince, Ed Ruscha, Taryn Simon, and Jonas Wood. Proceeds from the auction, which is hosted by Artsy, will support the nonprofit organization’s mission to further the distribution, understanding, and appreciation of artist’s books and related publications.

As part of London Gallery Weekend, Gagosian will have extended hours at all London locations, including the Gagosian Shop in Burlington Arcade, where visitors can browse Richard Prince artist’s books, posters, and other merchandise as part of his Shop takeover. Visitors can view the exhibitions Cristina Iglesias at Davies Street, which opens on Saturday, May 14; Titus Kaphar: New Alte̲rs: Reworking Devotion at Grosvenor Hill, before it closes on May 15; and Damien Hirst: Natural History at Britannia Street.

A range of activities will be offered, including exhibition tours and drop-in drawing hours for visitors of all ages, in addition to treats from Connaught Patisserie and Treats Club. In its second year, London Gallery Weekend is a free annual event featuring over 150 of the city’s leading contemporary art galleries coming together to celebrate culture and creativity.

Richard Prince is taking over the Gagosian Shop in the historic Burlington Arcade in London on the occasion of the exhibition Richard Prince: Hoods at Gagosian, New York. Included in the takeover are the artist’s books, posters, and other merchandise, with a special selection from the Katz + Dogg line created by Prince in collaboration with Darren Romanelli. Richard Prince: Hoods, 1988–2013, an artist’s book documenting a series of paintings made using the hoods of muscle cars as supports, is also available in advance of its official release by Fulton Ryder in June 2022. Upstairs, on the first floor, the presentation includes a recent painting (2021) and a grouping of High Times drawings (2019) that have never before been exhibited.

Bomb magazine’s annual gala and benefit art auction will celebrate its fortieth anniversary in New York on April 13, where art luminaries including Walton Ford and Linda Goode Bryant will be honored. The auction benefits Bomb, a nonprofit that has been publishing conversations between artists of all disciplines since 1981. Harmony Korine: Young Twitchy is available for online reading from July 26 through August 25 as part of the From the Library series. This catalogue was published on the occasion of the 2019 exhibition at Gagosian, 980 Madison Avenue, New York, of new paintings by the artist. To make these works, Harmony Korine digitally painted different characters over iPhone photographs of his surroundings in Florida, and then re-created the compositions in oil paint on canvas. The publication includes a new text by Richard Prince.

Richard Prince: High Times is available for online reading from July 5 through August 3 as part of the From the Library series. Published on the occasion of the eponymously titled exhibition at Gagosian, West 21st Street, New York, in 2018, the book includes reproductions of Prince’s latest paintings alongside his earlier Hippie Drawings that serve as their main sources. Integrated among these fascinating images are recent essays by the artist; reprints of historical texts by Eve Babitz, Joan Didion, and Kim Gordon; and a new essay by Rachel Kushner. Plastic inserts throughout the book house postcards, facsimiles of ephemeral materials related to 1960s culture from Prince’s personal collection, and a seven-inch recording of Prince’s 1985 composition “Loud Song.”

Gagosian is pleased to host a drinks reception to celebrate the release of Visions of the Self: Rembrandt and Now, published on the occasion of the recent eponymous exhibition at Gagosian, Grosvenor Hill, London. Organized in partnership with English Heritage, the exhibition places Rembrandt’s masterpiece Self-Portrait with Two Circles (c. 1665) in dialogue with self-portraits by Francis Bacon, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Lucian Freud, and Pablo Picasso, as well as leading contemporary artists such as Georg Baselitz, Glenn Brown, Urs Fischer, Damien Hirst, Howard Hodgkin, Giuseppe Penone, Richard Prince, Jenny Saville, Cindy Sherman, and Rudolf Stingel, among others. The catalogue includes an introduction by Wendy Monkhouse, senior curator at English Heritage, and a text by art historian David Freedberg. Join Gagosian for a tour of the group exhibition American Pastoral. The show juxtaposes modern and contemporary works with historical American landscapes ranging from Albert Bierstadt’s depiction of the sublime in Sunset over the River (1877) to Edward Hopper’s tranquil seaside scene, Gloucester Harbor (1926). Gagosian’s Alice Godwin will focus on a select grouping of exhibited works that seek to challenge the idealized vision of the American Dream that has long been a rich topic of inquiry for artists in the United States. In this series of conversations, the six artist-curators of Artistic License, currently on view at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York through January 12, are invited to reflect on their interpretations of the museum’s collection and the themes that informed their curatorial selections. Richard Prince’s presentation investigates the uncannily coherent formal qualities of the museum’s international holdings of abstract painting and sculpture from the 1940s and ’50s, and ultimately questions how taste is formed. Louis Vuitton X celebrates the fashion house’s 160-year history of artistic collaborations and marks the world premiere of the Artycapucines Collection. The line includes limited-edition reinterpretations of the label’s iconic Capucines bag by six artists including Urs Fischer, Alex Israel, and Jonas Wood. The exhibition also brings together a collection of early twentieth-century special-order trunks, art deco perfume bottles, iconic Monogram bags reworked by artists such as Frank Gehry and Cindy Sherman, and original collaborations by artists such as Richard Prince.

On the occasion of Art Basel Miami Beach 2018, Gagosian and Jeffrey Deitch are pleased to present Pop Minimalism | Minimalist Pop, their fourth collaboration at the Moore Building in the Miami Design District. This group exhibition explores the intersections and legacies of two major American art movements of the 1960s—Pop art and Minimalism—and the ways in which features of Minimalism have been incorporated into a variety of contemporary art practices. While these two art movements are typically seen to represent opposing artistic responses to the legacy of Abstract Expressionism, the work in Pop Minimalism | Minimalist Pop highlights points of common conceptual approaches and mutual exchange. Work by Jeff Koons, Adam McEwen, Sarah Morris, and Richard Prince is included.

Yet through the use of innovative approaches, techniques, and technologies, this generation of artists is creating complex and astonishing new work that revitalizes the abstract tradition. Abstract/Not Abstract will include work by contemporary artists who redefine abstraction for our time.
